Closer Walk was formed in March 2006 when founding members and lifelong friends, Todd Jordan and Johnny Zaborowski, were invited to sing in a local church. We never started out to form a group but God had other plans. From the first song, the Lord cemented in our hearts the desire to spread His message in song. The Lord blessed us with one of the finest Southern Gospel pianist shortly thereafter, Don Hopper. Don not only has made a tremendous impact with his ability in playing and arrangements but, in a mentor capacity, has given us the benefit of his more than thirty years experience in Gospel music.
In July 2007 Closer Walk had the opportunity to be a part of the Steve Hurst School of Music in Nashville, TN where we were able to learn from some of the most recognized names in Gospel music today; but more importantly God used this time to revive our spirits and our outlook towards bringing people into a place of worship.
In October 2007 the Lord saw fit to bring us the newest addition to the group, Mark Smith, to fill the Tenor position. We are thrilled with the ability God has given Mark and his desire to use it for the glory of our Lord.
The Lord has allowed Closer Walk to minister in churches all across Houston and surrounding areas, and we want all to know our hearts desire is that the Lord will be magnified through our songs and in our spirits and that our ministry will be a blessing and encouragement to all we meet. |
